Journal Entry 9 by imawinn2 at Neenah, Wisconsin USA on Tuesday, December 13, 2011
Lots of good Sci-Fi to choose from. It made it difficult for me to pick. But I did like the fact that there were some oldies but goodies in the box. I found the cover art amusing. Anyway, after a little bit of thought, I made my decisions.

My Picks:
Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier
The Chronicles of Pern: First Fall by Anne McCaffrey
The Paladin by C.J. Cherryh
The Many-Colored Land by Julian May
The Darwin Awards by Wendy Northcutt
The Darwin Awards II by Wendy Northcutt

This big box arrived here today, so I'll try to start going through it tonight. I'll probably replace the physical cardboard box since it arrived with a 2" hole in its side...but first I have to find a big enough box!

Journal Entry 15 by winghyphen8wing at Honolulu, Hawaii USA on Wednesday, February 1, 2012
Update: working on exactly what's going into the box while I wait to hear back from Tribefan with an address (initial PM sent 1/28)

I also need to check with the Post Office - now that the rates have changed, I can't tell from the online documentation if we can still get delivery confirmation with media mail.

Update 2/9/12: sent another PM to Tribefan.

Here's another copy of this book on my BC shelf.

Sorry for the delay in moving the box: got Tribefan's address yesterday (Saturday) so the box should go out tomorrow (Monday).

Putting in:

Aesop's Fables: From the Authentic Third-Century Valerius Babrius version
Dead Aim
Desolation Island
Double Homicide
Hidden Prey
The Innocent Man
The Rendezvous
The Rifle
Run for Your Life
Saints and Strangers
Tears of the Giraffe
Wicked

Now that I think about it, I suppose Wicked counts as fantasy...so maybe I shouldn't have put it in, sorry (but I didn't think about that before I weighed the box and taped it up). The Aesop's fables is a translation in verse with no pictures, not a children's book.

Finally on it's way( media) to GoryDetails!
DC# 0311 3260 0000 5040 1035

Sorry I took so long. This box is huge. And it arrived quite stuffed. Which is part of what took so long....the books I put in were larger than the books I took out, so though I tried every which way, I couldn't make them fit. Then I spent time trying to find a box just a bit larger.... no success. So I finally settled for a considerably larger box, and (with permission from our host) added a few extra books. Not enough to fill it ( I wouldn't be able to lift it then!). And tried folding over the excess box and strapping tape the +_))*( out of it. 'Tis not a pretty box that Gory will receive.

Knowing our intrepid host has a penchant for mysteries(as do others that I know of on down the list), half the books I put in are of that genre. And then I added a variety of others. So, I invite you to take one of mine as an extra, a 'freebie" :)

I may get back here to list what went in and came out, but not now. From the PO i went directly to an Instacare to get stitches in my hand, and I've typed way too much already~~time to go ice it.

Journal Entry 31 by wingGoryDetailswing at Nashua, New Hampshire USA on Tuesday, September 4, 2012
The "I Hate SF/Fantasy" box arrived today (along with another bookbox - ain't it the way? {grin}), and "'tis not a pretty box", as Erishkigal said, but it did hold together, and besides, any box full of books looks good to me! It looks to be a bit more than two thirds fantasy/SF at this point (roughly the same number of fantasy titles as SF), with a nice variety of other genres too. I'll contact grubsneerg for an address, and hope to get my choices made and box moving again by some time next week!

[I love this little journal-book, btw. This one contains a number of great Frost poems, including the title poem (a long-time favorite of mine), and others that range from romantic to melancholy to down-right eerie - and with a few near-slapstick titles as well, such as "Brown's Descent". Great fun!]

I just got a letter from the post office/distribution center out in San Francisco, CA. Evidently, something has happened to the box of books I was sending to hyphen8. They sent back to me the label off the box along with the Delivery Confirmation # and are asking for a detail list of the box's contents so that they can look further into the matter. I am just sick about this as I have never had this happen to me before. I am asking all of you to help me put a list together so I can send it back to them (hoping that they will find the books). Any books that you have placed into the I Hate Sci Fi (but you don't have to) bookbox that have NOT been claimed by participants, please PM me their title/author information. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
