Journal Entry 6 by wingNu-Kneeswing at Knaresborough, North Yorkshire United Kingdom on Thursday, October 7, 2010
Thank you! This is one of the many (probably far too many!) books I acquired at the UK Unconvention last weekend. Thank you so much, yorkshire-lass, for bringing it along for me! As you may have guessed from my Wish List, I'm a Big Michael Jecks' fan - and I know another one who'll be delighted to read it after me, so thank you from both of us :-)
As Swindon was included in our 3-week touring holiday, it's only now I'm finally home again that I'm in a position to journal all my finds. My piles of books to be read are huge so I'm not making any promises on when I might get around to reading this one ....

Journal Entry 7 by wingNu-Kneeswing at Knaresborough, North Yorkshire United Kingdom on Wednesday, November 24, 2010
I've already read the most recently published novel in this entertaining series, the 29th entitled The Oath, one of 18, soon to be 19, which I've thoroughly enjoyed, so it's obvious that I devour them with total disregard for their chronology! It was fascinating to go back to the 7th and be reminded of the comparatively early days of Sir Baldwin and Bailiff Simon's investigative collaborations, to witness the knight's wedding to his beloved Jeanne ....

In some ways it's a simpler, more straight-forward story, with fewer characters to get to know and without the political complications of many of the later ones. Even so, it has more than enough possible murderers, red herrings and twists to grab and hold the imagination throughout, before coming to a neat and rather satisfying conclusion!

Thanks again, yorkshire-lass, for bringing it to Swindon for me and thanks, chucklesthescot, for sending it on its BookCrossing way in the first place!

Afterthought: When did you last see a kid with a slingshot? I'm sure lots of boys had them when I was a child; my husband clearly remembers making home-made catapults! I wondered because of all the references here to bird-scaring and taking pot-shots at pigeons and people ....

Carrying Christmas Greetings to bluenoser in France by post!

This arrived safely in sunny, but chilly, SW France today. I love this series and thanks to all of those before me who have sent it on its way.

Journal Entry 10 by bluenoser at Eymet, Aquitaine France on Saturday, January 8, 2011
Another good read in this series. I particularly enjoyed finally 'witnessing Sir Baldwin and Lady Jeanne's wedding.
There are so many suspects who could have been responsible for young Herbert's death, so this is a bit like a medieval Agatha Christie mystery, as we work our way through their alibis, lies, fears and threats. Lots of twists and turns that keep the reading guessing right up until the last pages.
Many thanks to the BCers who read and passed this one along, especially Nu-Knees, who found it on the Table of Temptation at Swindon before I did! :o)

This book was included in the packages I received today! Thanks Boekentrol! They look really interesting! I can't wait to read them!

Journal Entry 18 by Alerion at Laufen, Baselland Switzerland on Friday, January 29, 2021
I finally managed to read this book. I had three stories in my hands in random order and this one is the most interesting one. By reading the other two too, I decided I do not like the author's way of writing, so I will not seek this series further.
