The bursar of Persephone College is found dead and drowned in her own canoe, and so the fun begins.

Another of those British Library Crime Classics and I really enjoyed it. Much better than Mavis Doriel Hay's other novel Murder Underground, although there is some crossover between the two. The author only wrote 3 crime novels which is a real shame. I'll have to find the third one now...

Thank you very much Deltic. I was delighted to receive this from the postman this morning and look forward to reading it. A British Library Crime Classic that comes with your recommendation must be worth reading!

Jolly hockey-sticks! Some annoying students have a jolly jape trying to solve a murder, doing all sorts of naughty things in the process like climbing out of the college window without the proper late leave . . . Obviously they know better than the police who would no doubt try and spoil their fun if they told them the truth . . .

Daft - but I finished it: it wasn't so daft that I had to abandon it!
