This is one of my favourite books. It's historical fiction set around the time of the French Revolution, about a renegade who spirits away aristocrats before they can be executed. Though it was originally rejected by nearly every publisher in London before finally being published, The Scarlet Pimpernell is perpetually on Time Magazine's list of the top 100 novels ever written.
