From Back: In Deep Survival Laurence Gonzales combines hard science and powerful storytelling to illuminate the mysteries of survival, whether in the wilderness or in meeting any of life's great challenges. This gripping narrative, the first book to describe the art and science of survival, will change the way you see your world. Everyone has a mountain to climb. Everyone has a wilderness inside.

"Laurence Gonzales takes us on a fascinating, fast-paced, and exciting adventure into survival. His captivating stories, many from personal experiences, will keep you turning the pages, stopping only to imagine how you, and your brain, would react when faced with a survival experience." - Joseph LeDoux, Henry & Lucy Moses Professor of Science at New York University and author of The Emotional Brain and Synaptic Self

Not a bad book. Some places you really had to dig to get though it. In the end it all came down to page 287 - The 12 things survivers do.
Then you have on page 292 - The essential tools of adventure:planning, caution, training, and learning some good decision-making skills. Don't just skip to these pages. You will miss the info that helps understanding why those 12 things are so important. Over all an excellent book.
Giving this book to CompSciGuy this weekend July 1st.
