Coyote Blue

"From Christopher Moore, author of Fluke, comes a quirky, irreverent novel of love, myth, metaphysics, outlaw biking, angst, and outrageous redemption. As a boy growing up in Montana, he was Samson Hunts Alone - until a deadly misunderstanding with the law forced him to flee the Crow reservation at age fifteen. Today he is Samuel Hunter, a successful Santa Barbara insurance salesman with a Merceds, a condo, and a hollow, invented life. Then one day, shortly after his thirty-fifth birthday, destiny offers him the dangerous gift of love - in the exquisite form of Calliope Kincaid - and a curse in the unheralded appearance of an ancient Indian god by the name of Coyote. Coyote, the trickster, has arrived to transform tranquility into chaos, to reawaken the mystical storyteller within Sam...and to seriously screw up his existence in the process."
Reserved for BlueAmazon when I am done :)
I didn't find myself chuckling outloud while I read this book, which is unusual as Moore's books usually are quite funny. I'm wondering if it was the topic that made it less funny? I don't normally read books about Native Indians and maybe that put me off a bit.

this arrived on Friday and I read it yesterday. I didn't find it nearly as funny as fluke, so I am intrigued even more to read Lamb, to see what Moore's "real" voice is like. this one wasn't laugh out loud funny, like the other....
traded to time-enuf-at-last and mailed off to Newport, R.I. today. hoping that she'll pass it on when she's done, maybe it can really travel!
Thanks BlueAmazon, it came safely in the mail today. Actually I have plans for this one to really travel... I traded for it 'cuz a very kind person from the UK is sending me some RABCKs of hard to find titles over here in the USA and this book was on her WishList. This book will soon be on it's way across the Atlantic :o)
Unfortunately I didn't move fast enough and this title is now off that person's wishlist, but I may have found this book a good home.
** Mailed Out 1/23

rec'd today - can't wait to read it!!!
Even though I didn't like this quite as much as The Stupidest Angel, I still couldn't put it down!
part of a trade with another BC'er =)
Received this in today's mail! THANKS!
Finished this last night. I didn't like it as well as 'Fluke', and it took a little while to get funny. But there were some parts that had me laughing. Mostly Coyote's misunderstanding of technology:)

Another bright romp from Christopher Moore, but not our favorite. Recommended for fans, of course. Just don't take his bits of pretension too seriously. Sending to a bookrelay member.
This was waiting for me when I got home from my vacation...thanks for mailing it so quickly!
I plan to read this then release it for the Animal Release Challenge in September, and the Keep Them Moving Release Challenge. I just love Christopher Moore's stuff.

I liked this one a lot ~ I especially liked the quirky love story between Sam and Calliope. Coyote Blue reminded me a lot of Bloodsucking Fiends, another one of my favorites. I always go for books with a metaphysical theme, and Christopher Moore's sense of humor kept things nice and light. Thanks for sharing.
I will release this somewhere special in September - where the chances of it getting caught are good!
