The Bees by Laline Paull - Ok I think, maybe Good
What a strangely fascinating book!
Flora 717 is born into a hive as a lowly sanitation bee, but there's something strange about her. For a start she should be mute and she isn't. She embarks on a very strange life where she gets the opportunity to work in various roles: nursemaid, forager, sanitation etc. She survives battles with wasps and vermin and even survives the winter.
Interesting take on the life of bees (I must ask my neighbour whether any of it is actually possible or realistic behaviour as he has hives). I really wasn't sure about it, but it was sent to me as an Easter RABCK so I felt I should give it a go. The more I read, the more my reading pace increased so I definitely got 'into it'. Certainly made a refreshing change from my go to genre of crime.

The write up sounded quite interesting and so did Cassandra2020's JE so am looking forward to reading this book soon
Certainly a very unusual story and at the beginning I really had to concentrate to follow the story. Then I got drawn into Flora's life and was utterly fascinated. At times it was quite sinister I thought ( the Kindness, the Devotion) and had a very dark religious undertone but again, it was utterly fascinating. A unique novel

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Going on a journey to beautiful Vienna ! Happy reading
Thank you so much! This looks very much like my kind of book.
Ha! "Do not annoy me by asking permission."
Interesting how forsythia are a very human symbol for spring while they (as far as I know) don't produce either nectar nor pollen and are therefor not reconmened for bee-friendly gardens... something the author must have missed.

Everyone with the tiniest interest in bees must have wondered how their lives work, and although this is clearly fiction, it's great. I'll buy more copies of that book for the next Christmas...
The book is now reserved for the Salzkammergut-Meetup, as I saw it on someone's wishlist.
