Still good, but not as good as the original. Has some of the same magic, but not all of it. I do like the idea of creating a mythology for the rabbits, and telling the stories of the legendary El-ahrairah along with the tales of present-day rabbits.
The Sense of Smell tells of El-ahrairah’s long and dangerous quest to obtain the sense of smell for his people, who are in great danger without it.
In The Hole in the Sky El-ahrairah goes in search of something he has only heard in rumor, and finds more than he expected. This story reminds me of some Greek mythology, in that in the beginning El-ahrairah disguises himself as a wandering and exhausted hlessi in order to test the compassion of an arrogant warren.
Speedwell’s Story is complete and utter nonsense. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
It is a far, far better thing to have a firm anchor in nonsense than to put out on the troubled seas of thought
J. K. Galbraith, The Affluent Society

In The Story of the Comical Field, El-ahrairah, returning home from his encounter with the Black Rabbit of Inlè, finds something even worse
”The Black Rabbit,” replied El-ahrairah, “inspired a terrible, indescribable awe: helplessness and the fear of endless darkness. But he is not wicked, evil or cruel.”

All in all, I recommend this book, if not quite as highly as the original.
