Friend or Faux

Picked this up at Powell's Books in Portland OR when I was passing through -- could not resist a mystery priced at only $1.
The apartment complex where I live hosted a party of some sort not that far from my window last night when I was hoping to get to sleep early. So, I reached for the nearest book to keep me company until things quieted down.
This was better than I was expecting -- the mystery was pretty decent (I was fooled just as our intrepid heroine was) and the characters were quite amusing and British and the romance aspect did not overshadow the rest of it. Would definitely read another in this series if I came across it. Meanwhile, I will set this aside for possible inclusion in the Cozy Mystery Book Box.

I really liked this mystery. I found Lady Margaret very likable, intelligent, and very interesting. I am interested in English history, and I found the setting of the story fascinating! The character's had the perfect amount of dry British humor and wit. The old manor house, staff, and guests reminded me of Downton Abbey and it was fun to read a book about the modern (1990's) British aristocracy. Reading this book made me want to travel to England and explore historical homes and museums!
