Iris-A Memoir of Iris Murdoch
6 journalers for this copy...
Very interesing for Iris Murdoch fans-touching account by her husband of coping with her alzheimers.
Taking to July Leeds meetup at the Angel Inn, there seem to be a few biography readers there.
Picked up at the Leeds Meetup. Looking forward to reading it.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
RELEASE NOTES:
Fascinating story of a marriage and of academic Oxford life. I liked John Bayley's calm and unflappable tone and persona but was slightly annoyed by his claims to have written or thought of the ideas for various sections of book, characters or articles - even if he did it can come across as envious and patronising.

Looks interesting - going on my TBR shelf...!
OK - I'm afraid I've had to cull this from my TBR-shelf... to make way for other (more-urgently-appealing) things.

(re)releasing, as promised...
Still not picked up at the York Meet.
Will probably take back to the Leeds Meet.
This poor book! It has been going backwards and forwards for ages without anyone to claim it! I promise I'll read it, but it will have to wait its turn...
Well - at last I got round to reading it!!! I think what was putting me off was the thought that it would be depressing, with the subject matter being what it was. Instead I found it very touching. I didn't find Bayley at all patronising - I actually thought he was very self-depreciating and modest, really putting Iris on a pedestal and almost giving her credit for his successes.
This was the first Biography I've read, and I'm ashamed to say I haven't read any Iris Murdoch books either, though now I am going to look some out.
As this has been released a few times at both Leeds and York meetups I will wild release it on the train tomorrow morning.
Caught on the 0928 York - Manchester Airport train at York station.
