Mailing this to ciloma as a wishlist RABCK. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to read this first, but mt. TBR is way too big and I'd rather rehome this somewhere it won't sit around collecting dust. Happy Reading! I hope that you enjoy it!

Found this one in my mailbox - THANX A BUNCH!!! Looks like fun . . . scary. Hopefully it won't collect too much dust before I get to it.
This was a great read! I can't think of much I didn't like about this book. I had to keep refering to the map and the pictures to get my bearings as well as the picture of the author on the book jacket because I just couldn't believe that the person pictured was the one in the story. Whether you like sharks or not this story is an adventure story and a history story and a treatise for conservation as well as a big raspberry and a kudos to our government.
Reserved for rororosie
Not sure of the exact day this was mailed but it is on its way to rororosie.
Thanks so much for this RABCK. I am looking forward to reading it! I love adventure, history and natural non fiction so this looks perfect!
Finished this, reading it during my July 4th trip out to NC to see my family.
Susan Casey became obsessed by the sea, and then later by the Farallon Islands and the shark research going on there, so she tricked and weasled her way to staying there as much as possible. In the meantime, she researched an awesome book that contains the history of the Islands, as well as a bit about the shark and bird research ongoing there.
Part history, part a story of an obsession and its ugly consequences, and part a love story for sharks... this sparked an interest for me in more shark lore. I also found myself reading up more on Susan Casey herself, and Peter Pyle, one of the foremost bird authorities in the country and a co-researcher in the shark research going on in the Farallons.
It was eminently readable and I am very tempted to get her next book as well; although I didn't end up with a great opinion of her by the end of the book as a person, I can't help but like her as a writer!
I will be RABCKing soon either for a wish list or in the forums, depending....

Picked this up from a Lite Free Library. About 50 pages in, I called it quits, but it's interesting to read about the sharks. I plan to drop it at an airport or cruise ship to get it some mileage.
