RELEASE NOTES:
This is starting the first leg of its journey.
Arrived this morning, thank you niccijl. I have a few rings/rays with me ( this is number 5) but I can assure you I'll get to it asap.
Just to let you know I started reading this yesterday, really enjoying it so far.
I loved this! A rollicking, alternative look at Wonderland. Alyss flees Wonderland on her 7th birthday when her Aunt Redd kills her parents & takes over the Queendom. In Oxford Alice learns to forget about Wonderland & loose her imaginative powers in order to fit in. Thirteen years later she is retrieved & taken back, will she be able to regain her rightful place as Queen? With help from Bibwit Hart, Dodge, General Doppelganger & Hatter Madigan Alyss attempts to pass through the Looking Glass Maze & battle with Redd & her supporters.
I have Famulus's details & it will go in the post tomorrow.

RELEASE NOTES:
Thanks, Scotsbookie - received it today, just in time for my weekend away. Should have plenty of opportunity to get stuck in over the next couple of days.
The idea is brilliant, but the execution only moderate. This is real fairytale, in the very best sense, but sadly it's wearing a coat of 'tech-fiction' that is not at all convincing. The 'continuum' feels like an imitiation of something else - Harry Potter's floo powder maybe? - that didn't quite come off. Other 'local colour' is an uneasy alliance of the pseudo-tech (eg 'nanofibres' and Hatter's weaponry) and the twee ('gwormies' and 'tarty tarts'). Even so, the story itself is well worth putting up with these infelicities.

RELEASE NOTES:
Brief diversion to fellow bookcrosser in my office, who's promised to read it and pass it on within my 1 month time-slot.
Got the book back from my friend - sadly she didn't enjoy it at all - not her genre.
Just waiting now for ArabellaFigg's address so I can send it on.
Book arrived this morning, thankyou Famulus. Will start it once I've finished my current read.
I really enjoyed this book, I found it hard to put down! The only thing was I felt some parts were rushed a bit, where more could have happened to improve the story. I will definitely read the next in the series, Seeing Redd.
Have PM'd bilbi, and will send the book on as soon as possible.
Received today !
No other bookrings on my shelf at the moment... It won't last long I'm afraid ;-)
Thanks for sharing \o/
A terrific book !
It was great to read of Alyss, the true woman behind this "fictional work by Lewis Carroll" ;-D
The book will be sent to Finland next week !
Book arrived today safely in Finland (together with 4 other ring/ray books!)
Thanks a lot for sharing this book, looking forward to read it!
Thanks a lot for this book, I enjoyed reading it during the weekend. At first I was a bit afraid if I would like it, seeing the description at the back of the book, but it was a very nice read, something you would like to share with other persons.
The "real" story behind the story seemed like a nice idea, well worked out and all!
The book will now wait at home for next weekend, when we have a big get-together of the Bookcrossers in Finland here in Helsinki, and if I checked it well, pellu should be there too ;-)

This book goes during the summer meetup to Pellu here in Finland.
Have fun reading the book!
I got the book last weekend in Suomenlinna. Thanks hippolein for bringing it. It's a pity we didn't meet.
The book was good way to pass time and easy to read, but quite light. Story was going forward maybe too fast. There wasn’t very much description of characters, they felt almost like characters in a computer game. Anyway, I liked the book so much that I’m going to read also the next volume Seeing Redd.
Thank you niccijl for charing this book! I’m sendin the book to Alienagr tomorrow.
I was out of town for a couple of days, I returned yesterday and here it was!! Thank you very much Pellu and niccijl! By the way Pellu, it is a VERY small world after all!!!;-)
It was what I was looking for this period: a perfect book for the beach!!!I liked a lot this alternative story of Alyss in Wonderland!! And I am looking forward to reading the next in the series! Thank you niccijl for the bookray and pellu for sending it on! The book is now on its way to marsala!!
And the book arrived safely in my mailbox today. Thank you niccijl for the bookray and thanks to alienagr for sending it to me!
I'll start reading this book as soon as I finish my current read.
I liked the story, it was quite exciting. I also really like the idea of the 'Real Alyss'. I did find it a bit weird that on the one hand you had the sort of fairytale like features, also known from Alice in Wonderland. Like the catterpillars and travelling trough looking glasses. On the other hand the sort of more technical weapons. That just seemed a bit strange. Also I would like to get to know the characters a bit more. Now sometimes it focuses too much on describing fighting scenes. All in all, it's a nice read, but lacking the depth that can be found in Alice in Wonderland.
Since I'm the last one for this bookray, I'll post a message on the forum to see if anyone else wants to join.
This bookray will continue it's journey to
- rroos (The Netherlands)
- Betje (The Netherlands)
- Moriquen (Belgium)
- Xeyra (Portugal)
- MyaStone (U.S.A.)
- You?
- You?
- Or maybe you?

The book is now travelling to rroos.
Received! Thanx, Marsala! Am really curious if I am gonna enjoy it or not, I am more of a 'realistic'-stories person, but am definetely gonna give it a try.
It took me a bit longer to finish this book, I'm afraid, but it was definetely worth to finish this one. In the beginning I thought it to be not really for me and I even thought about laying away the book, but soon I was intrigued by the story. I am not too familiar with the real story of Alice in Wonderland, have to catch that one up. But for me the writer of this book is a genius. Thanx for ringing this book, niccijl and thanx to Marsala for sending it to me.

The book is going to continue it journey and is travelling to Betje by mail
It arrived at my place today. Thanks rroos for sending it and the complementary cart and tea (of -for me- an unknown flavour!). The bookcover looks intriguing, but the book will have to await its turn.
I really enjoyed this book. I like those remakes of well-known originals, and I admire the authors who makes them work and create a whole new story out of it. And I think 'The looking glass wars' is such a successfull remake.
I have already pm' ed Moriquen. I have her address, but I am going to Belgium the first weekend of December and I intend to post it there, so the book will stay with me for a little while longer.

I am in Brussels, and brought this book with me.
This afternoon, I got some stamps, and posted it. I hope it arrives safely!
My apologies for forgetting about this book for so long. A while ago I bought a new bookcase and I accidentally put this book in the wrong box ... only to find it again last week.
I have since read it and I must say that the book didn't entirely live up to my expectations. The synopsis and the overall idea of the book seemed wonderful. However the execution of the story is a bit less. I constantly had the feeling that Beddor could have done a lot more with the book. He skims over so many small subjects that I feel I don't really know nor understand Wonderland and its strange inhabitants. I missed a lot of details. But apart from this the story was enjoyable enough.
Pm'ed the next participant.
Edit (01/03/'09): Have sent two PM's to Xeyra which remain unanswered. I'll PM the next person in the list.

On its way to MyaStone! I hope you'll enjoy it!
Received this earlier this week - I am so sorry I forgot to journal it - and I'm already halfway thru. Reserving judgement 'til the end, though.
Thank you for sharing!
If I had to choose between like and dislike for this book, I would settle on like. I really do love Alice in Wonderland, and love the books concept. But I agree that there was something off about it. I rolled my eyes every so often and in general thought some of the writing/character development could be improved.
That said, would def recommend it to Alice fans.
Need to find out where this goes next.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It isn't often I find books like this that I thouroughly enjoy. I love the way the book was writen. I liked the way Alyss handled herself when she got back to Wonderland. I think I am going to try and find this book and buy it for my permanant collection! Thanks so much for sharing! Trying to locate Issy5000 and get the book to them:)
This book is back with me now, and I will be sending it on to the next person in the bookray. Sorry for the delay, entirely my fault.
About to read, then I'll pass on!
1/1/11 - Part of my New Year's Resolution to go back and journal books I skipped out on. So, I love books that are interpretations of fairy tales, and this was no exception. I loved this version of Alice in Wonderland and plan on reading the rest of the series.
I just wanted everyone know that there is a second book by this author. The book is a follow up book. It is called Seeing Red!
