The storyline is good. Some of the things that happen are farfetched, but I guess that is normal for this type of kids' book. It did keep my attention and I finished it quickly.

On the picnic table outside. (The book was gone 30 minutes later, so don't go hunting for it.)

hi, i'm the person who found the book within thirty minutes of its release. having heard of the program before, and enjoying childrens' books very much, i decided to take it under my wing. i am more than half finished now, and find it to be well written and intriguing. my husband may want to read it as well soon after i have finished :) but soon after that, i plan to release it in a nearby coffee shop.
A wonderful, well written book. A joy to read and hard to put down. Not a book to start at midnight before work, as you most likely will get very little, if any, sleep. Cornelia Funke has crafted a masterpiece of modern urban fantasy.
The Thief Lord is as much about Venice as it is about the band of children who roam it's streets. It is the tale of Prosper and Bo, two boys who run away from their rich and very proper Aunt, Esther. I will say little else about this book, for fear of revealing the wonderful plot ahead of time. Suffice it to say that if you enjoy books at all, you will enjoy this book. This book is suitable for almost any age, from 10 to 100. As a footnote, Funke crafts a great, believable villian.
If you liked this book, I also suggest: Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, Harry Potter, and Momo by Micheal Ende (might be hard to find in the states- the same guy who wrote the Neverending Story).
Finally, this book just screams for a screenplay!
This book will be released at the Portland Airport early in the morning on December 27th, for the enjoyment of some lucky passenger.
