I received this along with a whole box of other surprises from my Secret Santa! Thank you so much KimKerry! I don't need to open anything else...I just want to go somewhere and read. :-)
I saw this book in the Border's newsletter and became interested in the story of Carrie McGavock because of our proximity to Franklin, TN.

There were times when I wished the author would just "get on with it, already". I realize that he has great affection for Carrie McGavock and wanted to show how her life was changed by the Battle of Franklin and its aftermath, but I got bored with the saintly description of her actions and her thoughts.
I apprecitate that I would have probably never known Carrie McGavock's story without this fictional account.
(On the flip side... My husband got to this book before I did, and he loved it.)

I thought it was a very go account of the Civil War and the battles surrounding this home. It was also a very good love story.
