Neither Here Nor There: Travels in Europe
9 journalers for this copy...
I am part way through this book but it doesn't really hold my interest. I think I should give it up and set it free.
I started this book quite some time ago but couldn't get interested, so I will change its status from TBR to Available. Someone else might really enjoy it.
This book is all wrapped up and ready to travel to Seattle. The Goaliegirl won it in my Birthday RABCK. It was a very popular book, with nine Bookcrossers naming it as the one they would like. Now I am beginning to wonder what I missed.
This book just arrived today. Really looking forward to reading it... once I finish my current book and a bookray book that I'm involved in. Thanks so much for sending it!
***Closing this bookray 6/7/09, as it looks like it got lost in the mail and PRCS is no longer interested in this book***
Since this book seems so popular, I would like to turn this book into a book ray. I'll take signups for about a month... which will give me time to read it and get some interested people signed up. :)
To help ensure that things run smoothly (or that is the plan
anyhow), I've put together a few rough guidelines for this one. I
know that some people take longer to read a book (busy, got a bunch
of books to read before, work, etc)...
1. Please try to have this book read within 3 weeks. I know this
isn't possible, but if you make an effort to try that is all I can
ask.
2. Please journal when you receive the book.
3. When about halfway through, please contact the next person on the
list for their mailing address.
4. Please journal again when you've read the book and it is on its
way.
5. Have fun! Reading is supposed to be fun!
6. To the last person in the ray: Please keep this book moving... RABCK it, give it to a friend, etc... just please keep it moving once you're done reading it. Thanks!

Having been to a lot of the places mentioned in the book just last year, I found this book to be very enjoyable. So far this is my favorite book by him. I'm a huge fan of travel lit and this was no exception. When I'm not traveling, I'm trying to plan the next place to go to. Thanks kayjay33 for sending it my way!
Mailed yesterday to MaryZee to start this ray.

Received safely today. Sneaking a bit of this in already. Looking forward to this read. Thanks.
This book demanded to be read as soon as it got here, despite having only about 6 chapters left to my book that I was reading. Enjoyed this one as much as I've enjoyed any of Bryson's books, and perhaps a bit more than some of them. I think the only one I enjoyed this much was In a Sunburned Country (Down Under). I've never been to Europe, but I enjoyed Bryson's travels there very much. I was glad to hear of some more of his Katz adventures (as in A Walk in the Woods). It was also interesting to learn about the contrast from when he visited some of these European countries when he was much younger.
Mailing on to LisaGriffith on Thursday, 7/27.

I enjoyed reading about a lot of the places that Bill Bryson travelled to but didn't appreciate his supercilious and arrogant tone about other cultures. I did like reading Bryson's book about the US where he poked fun of our culture. Regardless, thanks for sharing the book thegoaliegirl!
I've received a mailing address for geniedances and the book will be on its way shortly.

The book arrived several weeks ago. I've been too busy to start reading it. Hope things calm down next week so I can get this book read an on its way to the next BCer.
Started reading this book and then all the holiday season pet sitting business started to hit full force.
I'm contacted the next reader on the list.
While waiting to hear back, I read the book.
In my imagination, I had a vivid idea of many of the cities in Europe Bill Bryson visited. Some of his discriptions were nothing like what I had imagined. Interesting read!

Received in the mail today, will begin reading ASAP.
I have enjoyed Bryson's other books immensely, but I did not start enjoying this until about the time he entered Rome.
I will PM the next in line and get it in the mail ASAP. Thanks for including me!

I received the book last Thursday, will get to it as soon as I finish another bookring I'm currently reading. Thanks!
Hi, just a quick note to let you all know that although "my" 3 weeks will end this Sunday, I won't be able to finish the book before next week. I promise it won't go beyond that, though, the book is an excellent and fast read, the problem is that I had a very long read before and could only start this one a few days ago.
I liked this book a lot. Although at times I felt he was being a bit offensive, I think it was not nearly as bad as in Notes From a Small Island. I laughed out loud many times and I found some of the information truly interesting. The book will travel again as soon as I get abrokenstarr's address. Thank you, thegoaliegirl, for sharing it.
Just a short update to let you know that abrokenstarr asked to be skipped, so I'm now waiting for DianeO's address.
I'd love to be telling you that the book is travelling again, but the truth is that it is still here with me! DianeO is not answering my PMs, so I'm now waiting for a reply from Cass01. I hope this time I have more luck...
And finally, the book is travelling again! It was sent this morning to Cass01, ufff! Once again, thaks for the sharing.
Received yesterday - thank you :-)
mickey81 asked to be skipped. Posted to Miss-Owl today :-)

It's here! Thanks to everyone for sending on & sharing.
I just won a travel guide to Europe - is this a sign? :) - and so am particularly looking forward to reading this. There is a book or so ahead on Mt Toobie though, but school holidays are just around the corner so I shouldn't take too long with it.

Having made my first journey to Europe just over a year ago, I really enjoyed this read and it increased my hunger to make a return journey. While there weren't many destinations Bryson and I had in common (probably because I spent a week in England, which Bryson may not have regarded as Europe per se), and those that we did were sites of contention (he loved Rome and hated Florence while I was the reverse), his observations still made me chuckle with recognition. The world is an amazing place.
I've PMed PRCS and will be sending this book on soon.
Thanks to thegoaliegirl for a great read.
Edited: sent approx 10th July.
