It takes a while to get into an O'Brian book because of the wealth of detail and long list of characters he uses but once that's done the reader is soon carried away in the narrative flow ;o)
A good story with some unexpected twists and a startlingly sudden ending. I'm not sure though if that is a fault of the abridger or whether the book finishes as abruptly. I shall have to spend some time *not* in the car and read the paper version to find out.

Safely received this morning. Thanks :)
I had previously read the book and felt this lost something, being an abridged version. However, it passed an enjoyable couple of hours and I appreciate the loan of it.
I'm passing this back to Kleptokitty now to return.

This was going begging at the Reading meet the other week, so I picked it up to pass on to Gothmarcus, who is looking for audio books for a family member. however, he doesn't think this will be their cup of tea, and it's not mine either.
Netstation assured me that he doesn't want this back so I'll be taking it to the BC meet at the Stamford Arms pub in London tomorrow to find it a new listener.

Caught this at the London meet at the Stamford Arms yesterday - have passed it to another family member who is looking forward to listening to it in the car!
