Sixty years ago, the Ihalmiut numbered 7,000. When Farley Mowat visited them, their population had dwindled to forty. For two years, Mowat shared their hard life - the bleak winters, the shortages of food , the fervent struggle to withstand the intrusion of white man - and came to understand them.

I've actually never read anything by Farley Mowat. Does that make me a bad Canadian?

I found this book in Burlington or Oakville most likely in a Little Free Library.

'Got this at a meetup in Hamilton last weekend. I enjoyed "The Dog Who Wouldn't Be" and the movie "Never Cry Wolf". Mowat's wife also wrote a good book about living in a Newfoundland outport.
This could be enjoyable at a cottage ( I'll be visiting a friend's cottage this week-end).
