In the pet-friendly town of Wagtail, Virginia, there's no love lost when Holly Miller meets her match in a murder...
This was really a cute book. Sure were a lot of people killed. Lots of dogs and cats running around.

I love the idea of pet-loving small town, but this book had maybe too much going on... I got mixed-up at times! But still a nice mystery. Going to send this for another dog-person for Christmas.
Merry Christmas, Kirjakko!
Thanks! I'm opening my presents with Doggy Dearest and having some of that great Moomin Tea which came from one of your numerous parcels... Merry Christmas to you, too!
I'm off to a dog show in Iceland in a few weeks time and thought this would be a good book to release at the show.
Began reading and I have to say this match-making of pet-people would not work like this in real life. Why? Men into dogs are either gay or the Neanderthal type who have hunting dogs.

Peanut butter ice cream, made especially for dogs. 😱 There is one word missing: "Peanut butter ice cream, made especially for FAT dogs."
"There's always room for one more cat" -mugs should be banned. Cats aren't pack animals and when there are too many of them, behavioral problems will arise. Very often that includes spraying. How many are too many? A cat specialist said to me once that the rule of thumb is a cat per room, BUT if a kitten has been weaned too early (i.e. before 12 weeks), its social skills will be poor and it might get stressed of other cats even if it lived in a mansion. I'm sure cat rescue people mean well, but I'm pretty sure they don't know this problem well enough. Nor that there should be as many cat toilets as there are cats plus one, to avoid spraying problems.
A client of ours moved to Spain to work in a horse rescue centre in August 2019. She had four dogs, two cats and a daughter and took an empty leg flight there, so that she could get all her animals in the cabin. It cost 16 000€. She had meant to stay there some years, but her pre-school aged daughter didn't fit in and they returned by another empty leg flight in December 2019, this time with the addition of six rescue kittens. On hindsight, with Covid-19 just around the corner, it was a good thing they returned, but since then she has had this continuous spraying-problem. We have tried to tell her that giving away some of the youngsters (when they still were just kittens) would have been the best solution, but like some other rescue-people, she thinks nobody takes as good care of them as she does. She has moved out from her big house and garden and bought a small farm, fenced it for the cats to be safe, but still they spray the newly renovated house when they come in. The new sofas, the new floors, the new walls...

Finished last night. Even if the match-making event was a bit far fetched, the writer could keep up my interest and make enough twists and turns.
