WILD RELEASE NOTES:
A wonderful read. Small town fanaticism, prejudice, people on the margins. Being brave.
This could have been quite formulaic and shallow but the author has done a very good job here and made it more complex and rewarding.
Waiting to receive Estelle's address.

Received yesterday, thanks for sharing Lamilla and for sending it over Edwardstreet!
Really enjoyed this book, it had so many facets to it that I kept changing my mind on what was the best way to handle the situations! A very current read and very thought-provoking. Loved it.

Book is safely with me now.
and thank you for the tea which I have just partaken of and really enjoyed.
I think Mr Backman is a very talented writer but this book was not good for my blood pressure. When I read "My Grandmother Sends Her Regards and Apologises" I felt many emotions and shed a few tears. With this book, the primary emotion was anger as it portrays very much the reason that I am not much of a sports fan (along with being an introvert and lazy to boot) in that it often becomes more of an obsession than a hobby or a job and leads to the neglect of more important things like family, friends, gender/racial issues or a person's personal health be it mental or physical and there is often a lot of violence involved particularly with football.
Mailing to next person on the list.

One of the reasons I like reading bookcrossing books, is that Bookcrossing allows me to sign up for books I'm sometimes only vaguely intrigued by, and knowing I need to post it on to someone else in the reasonable future pushes me to keep going, even when a book might be annoying or irritating..
For at least the first third of this one I found myself frequently gnashing my teeth - I felt like I was reading white basting thread and could almost hear some sort of ominous soundtrack in my head. From the beginning, with the scene of a teenager putting a gun to someone else's head, to the recurring declarations (I was going to say "hints" but there was no hinting involved) that "nothing would ever be the same again" that they would all "regret this decision forever" etc etc, I found it so exhaustingly desperate that I could barely continue.
This being said, I had it as a bookcrossing book, so I pushed on, and I am glad that I did. The set up did seem extremely long, but in the end I suppose this was somehow necessary to let the atmosphere gel - not a cold snap but one long bone chilling winter setting in.
The dynamics of the characters are very complex, and the actual triggering dramatic event relatively unexpected, at least for me. The rift in the town, the reactions, the shifts, were movingly evoked, and by the end I was all in. The slow build up was potentially essential but quite off-putting, but on the whole it was a very strong story.
I am confirming the next address but will probably wait to send it until the end of this month when I can post from France.

This has left France and heads to Sweden. Thanks for making this book available. Enjoy!
This bookarrived safely in Sweden. I will start reading it after I finish my current book. Thanks for sending it, Penelopewanders and thanks Lamilla for sharing it as a bookray.
I’ve read a few books by this author - both in Swedish and English - so I’m curious to see how this one goes.

I couldn’t really get into the story. A bit unfortunate, because I liked his other books.
I’m passing it on to my mother in law, because she’s visiting me now in Sweden. Hopefully she likes it more than I did.
