The Royal Tutor, Vol. 2
1 journaler for this copy...
The second volume continues the fun, with lots of sibling-bickering, heartwarming camaraderie, hilarious quips - and some very touching scenes as well. I'm really enjoying this series! Whether Heine is trying to teach gentle-hearted Kai how to seem less intimidating to the household staff, coaching feather-witted Leonhardt into making a passing grade on his exam, or leading the princes on a field-trip into town to see how their subjects live, the stories are very entertaining.
We also get to meet the King in this volume, something that seems to intimidate the princes; it's set up to seem as if they're all in fear of their "Warrior King" father, who... turns out to be as youthful-looking and handsome as the princes, and who bursts into tears at being reunited with his beloved sons! (Not that this makes him less stern when it comes to Leon's poor grades, of course.) We also learn that Heine and the King know each other better than they've led the princes to believe...
There's bonus material too, including some German vocabulary, gag strips inside the covers (making it hard to find a good place for the labels!), and more.
I'll be picking up more volumes of this sweet, funny, and (so far) relatively angst-free series.
[There's a TV Tropes page on the series, with some entertaining tidbits.]
