YAEB = Yet Another English Bookbox - Planned mostly for Europe, starting in Germany, contents unknown. ;-)

Anyone interested? Just PM me or tell my Guestbook (click here) that you should be on the list :-)

Final contents can be seen here / Derzeitiger Inhalt siehe hier: http://www.bookcrossing.com/hunt/28/238/42260/98608

Participants should be willing to ship to other EU countries - auch wenn ich natürlich die Deutschen hintereinander legen werde...

Anyone interested? Just PM me or tell my Guestbook (click here) that you should be on the list :-)

Journal Entry 5 by Herrundmeyer from Heilbronn, Baden-Württemberg Germany on Thursday, August 14, 2003

F. Scott Fitzgerald - The Great Gatsby
Robert Ludlum - The Parsifal Mosaic
Anne Haverty - One Day as a Tiger
Wilbur Smith - River God

Herman Wouk - The Winds of War
Joseph Wambaugh - Finnegan's Week
Paul Huson - The Keepsake
Charlotte Hunt - Gemini Revenged
Tom Wolfe - Bonfire of the Vanities
Stephen Fry - The Liar
G.K. Chesterton - Father Brown

Released on Friday, August 15, 2003 at mailed to a fellow bookcrosser in Gelsenkirchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany.

Journal Entry 7 by mojitopt on Saturday, August 16, 2003
The YAEB arrived this morning in a yellow F1 race car...
Thank you Herrundmeyer!

Took out the following:
+ Stephen Fry - The Liar
+ Elizabeth Longford - The Royal House of Windsor

Put in the following:
+ Stephen King - Salem's Lot
+ Richard Preston - The Hot Zone

I'm afraid that due to the cleaning up and reorganization of the States/Cities by Ron and his crew, it is now impossible to release into the crossing zone prepared by IrasCignavojo, that the other YAEB participants used before - sorry!

Released on Saturday, August 16, 2003 at Sent to a Fellow BookCrosser in Postal Release, Hamburg Germany.

A short pit stop and the YAEB races on to buecherfresser. Enjoy !

Journal Entry 9 by buecherfresser from Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, Bayern Germany on Thursday, August 21, 2003
Their own commercials with those racing cars obviously did not inspire the german postal service to a fast delivery - but I am happy the YAEB has finally arrived today. Thanks to everyone who has had it so far - it is great to get such a parcel - feels like christmas :-)

Okay, I am taking out:

The Crow: Quoth the Crow by David Bischoff
The Prisoner of Zenda by Anthony Hope
Servant of the Shard by R.A. Salvatore
The Keepsake by Paul Huson
The Hot Zone by Richard Preston

and I am adding:

The Secret Adversary by Agatha Christie
Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy
The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans
The Keys To The Street by Ruth Rendell
Acqua Alta by Donna Leon

Journal Entry 14 by linguistkris from Remscheid, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany on Monday, September 22, 2003

Journal Entry 15 by Thorngage from Mainz, Rheinland-Pfalz Germany on Wednesday, October 1, 2003

The Hermit of Eyton Forest - Ellis Peters
The Secret Adversary - Agatha Christie

Dazugekommen sind:
Red Storm Rising - Tom Clancy
The Eternity Code (Artemis Fowl III) - Eoin Colfer

"Yet Another English Bookbox" continues its journey to the Netherlands - to Nrrdgrrl.....I hope you´ll enjoy it as much as I did!

Journal Entry 18 by nrrdgrrl from Tunbridge Wells, Kent United Kingdom on Wednesday, October 22, 2003
it's here! it's here! hey hey hey... or should i say ho ho ho? it is indeed like christmas in october. the box, somewhat battered after all these travels, is tightly taped on all sides. so much that it takes kind of a study to find out which side is the one not to cut.

out comes a HUGE stack of books. i'll upload a picture of that later, as there can be only one with each journal entry. the box was crammed with 17 books, most of them more than average sized, so the box was filled to the brim. and contained some sweets too :o) that is very eh, sweet!

Journal Entry 19 by nrrdgrrl from Tunbridge Wells, Kent United Kingdom on Wednesday, October 22, 2003
the pile really is enormous (und die kecksen am gipfel). and puts me into luxury trouble - i've been reading ahead to have enough swap books and i'll have to find out how to fit at least one thick hardback into the box. surely this must not mean i can only pick the thickest books in order to fit mine in?? hmmm, that will take some creativity.

but first the feast of spreading them all out and choosing... exactly the treat i deserved today.
thanks all, for making this possible!

Journal Entry 20 by nrrdgrrl from Tunbridge Wells, Kent United Kingdom on Friday, October 24, 2003
hmm, that wasn't easy.
out went:
the poolbeg book of irish ghost stories
the last of the high kings
  snap happy

in went:
  looking for alaska (peter jenkins)
  framed in lace (monica ferris)
the grass harp and tree of night (truman capote)
  amsterdam (ian mcewan)

the box has been ready to go since yesterday evening; now all we need is for martinburo to read his mail and send his address...

Journal Entry 21 by nrrdgrrl from Tunbridge Wells, Kent United Kingdom on Monday, October 27, 2003
martinburo's address has arrived, but the post office was closed for the weekend when i received the pm.
left the bookbox at tembo's place (don't tell me you didn't know dutch people are thrifty), who will post it sometime this week... in exchange i took the liberty to invite her to take part; to exchange a couple of books if time permits and if she feels like it at all.

Journal Entry 22 by tembo from Emmerich, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany on Tuesday, October 28, 2003
actually i was supposed to be the courier for the box. nrrdgrrl left the box with me on sunday. as she allowed me to exchange some books, i opened the box and here is the result:

out went:
framed in lace (monica ferris)

in went:
interview with a vampire (anne rice)

Out:
-West Side Story - it's tiny, it's a classic; how could I resist?
-The Buddha of Suburbia, whose cover art really tempts me
-Good English Guide,
-New Words and Their Meanings
and Notes Toward a New Rhetoric for professional reasons :)
-Running with the Demon, my first Terry Brooks in a long time...
-The Moon is a Harsh Mistress... and my first Heinlein in a long time.
-Spin Doctor
-Wifey, which I didn't take out of the YAEB the first time it came around...
-Windy City Blues
-The Complete Yes Prime Minister, although I don't know the show, and finally, in the way of catching up on classics
-The Pickwick Papers!

In:
-Die Höhlenkinder - not English, I admit, but a bookray that Daine is waiting for. :)
-The Dragonstone
-The Third Man
-The Fox
-The White Mercedes
-House of Blues
-Popcorn
-The Three Investigators: The Mystery of the Talking Skull -- loooads of fun with Germany's favourite young sleuths, here in the original version!
-Chocolate Fever
-The Time Traveller's Wife, which I have yet to read and why the box will be a bit delayed -- but I do want to put this highlight into the box, and so you need to be patient! ;)
