A fascinating look at life in South Africa during Apartheid. Paton writes a love-poem to the 'grass covered and rolling' hills, whilst looking at the evils coming from the townships and how they draw people away from their traditional lives. This is a comparatively simple story, but told powerfully and with a quiet passion for the country and the people that are it's life blood.
