I really enjoyed this, it was easy to get into and had some very interesting characters. I think younger readers midght think Lizzy very naive, and compared to modern children she was. Having spent part of my childhood in Ireland in the 1960's I know that then children were much less aware of what was going on in the adult world around them than they are now. A ver good read.

I was pleased to find this one, having enjoyed another by this author as well as her great and very funny talks at London in 2008 and in Swindon this year. I plucked this off the 'Table of Temptation' at the Swindon Unconvention, and hauled it by train, bus and plane home to SW France today. It was a great weekend with a crowd of fellow Book Crossers.

Like yorkshire-lass I too enjoyed this quick, light read. I haven't lived in Ireland, but I have visited there and I went to boarding school for seven years, under the 'care' and teaching of Catholic nuns, many of them Irish, so I felt very at home in the small Irish town in the story. During the years 1969-1972 in Toronto, when my daughters were infants, my next door neighbour, a young pregnant Irish woman, asked if she could watch me bath and dress my infant daughter, because she had no idea what the female anatomy looked like and she wanted to find out in case her new baby was a girl! That's how naive and unaware Irish girls were back then, I hope and expect that has changed 40 years later.
I spotted this on some wish lists and will hang onto it for a while before it fnds a new home.

I've only read one Transita book and really enjoyed it. So snapped this up despite resolutions not to take home more than I brought to meet!

I'm going to put a 'read-by' date in the book so that I don't keep it too long.

Sorry, still had this a long time despite putting a date in it!

Enjoyable quick read tho a bit too chick-litty for me.
