I've read Koontz for years and felt he had gone the way of King, too wordy and repetitive in storyline. After "Intensity" (way too gory) and "False Memory" (see above comments) I thought I was done with him for good. I took this book out of the library and was instantly entranced in the storyline. The Koontz of "Lightning" (my second favorite book after King's "The Stand") is back! The character Leilani is his best ever (I wish I had her chutzpah growing up!). You can empathize the pain the character Mickey's feels and keep rooting for her to succeed in her goals. This is a book that teaches us that no man is an island; that by reaching out for help we also help the person who helps us!

When am finished with the book I am leaving at my local bowling alley.
