1994 Berkley paperback of the 1993 NYT #1 Bestseller. Set in 1970, this is the earliest in the chronological "Ryanverse." This one introduces the origins of the later CIA legend, John Clark, and also features Jack Ryan's father, and the jungles of Vietnam. I bought this copy new way back when. I want to read it again, in preparation for reading the whole series in order.
Edit June 10, 2018: This was very long, but with some very riveting scenes. A great origins story for the series. I currently have this ranked at #3772 on my ranked list of best-read books lately.
