In 1973 werd Betty Jean Scales vermoord. Haar lijk werd gedumpt bij de kiezelgroeven van El Monte, Californie. De zaak kwam als "onopgelost" in de archieven terecht. In 1997 raakt een schrijver geobsedeerd door de gedachte haar moordenaar te vinden. De Scales-zaak was El Montes tweede onopgeloste moordzaak: vijftien jaar eerder was er een vrouw gewurgd en eveneens gedumpt. Zij was de moeder van de schrijver.

I do like the great idear of bookcrossing. I found the book in the forest at the souhtern side of the city.
I read the book and was disappointed. There is no closing part. The ritme of writing is verry staccato. There is no clou, i can't find a message. Was thinking this book has not the level to meet the great idear of bookcrossing.
