Though the jacket doesn't exactly say so, it is pretty much obvious that the main character is the Marquise de Merteuil of Les Liaisons dangereuses. I don't mean "a thinly disguised version of," but literally the Marquise, two years after the end of Les Liaisons. So, I dunno, if you like that sort of thing...

Though I doubt this will go down as a classic of any sort of literature.
