This looks intriguing and, based on the first few pages, it reads well. Mayor's Joe Gunther reminds me, in some ways, of John Straley's Cecil Younger; man living way out from usual civilization (Alaska in Younger's case, Vermont in Gunther's case) becomes embroiled with (usually bad) forces from the big city. Great pacing & lively writing; any mystery buff will enjoy either of these authors. Mayor adds the welcome element of the police procedural. Caught at the Hewitt Drive Starbucks in Waco, Texas.
