Melanie has just married her long time beau, Sam. Melanie, Sam, her son Davey and 5 standard poodles have set up housekeeping in her small house. House hunting is worked in between her teaching job, investigating a homicide and attending obedience class with recently retired show dog Faith. Melanie decides to enroll Faith in an obedience class and embark on a different aspect of dog training techniques. A part of the class involves therapy dog training sessions. It was during one of these therapy sessions at an assisted living center when one of the senior citizens is murdered. Melanie is asked by the victim's nephew to work on the case.

I enjoyed this book more than several of the others in this series. While there was some information about dog training, most of the story revolved around the murder investigation. In many of her earlier books there is almost more information about dog shows than there is about the murder plots.

This is the first book I've read by this author. I enjoyed meeting a whole new cast of characters in a mystery series involving animals and animal people. I'm looking forward to reading more of them. I love a mystery! I am taking this book back to our monthly meet today, Nov. 1, 2008, to release it to someone or return to geniedances.
