Not the funny Dickens; the serious Dickens. This is one of the most widely read of Dickens' works, and that is saying something for a body of work that is still read extensively people of all stations in life. In this one, you find the usual unforgettable cast of characters, perfectly drawn and named by Dickens. You also find a stark indictment of "capitalist exploitation during the industrial revolution." Wear your serious hat and you will find much to enjoy in this book.
