Amazing woman & author, would love to actually meet her! This book is the first volume in a series, an autobiography of one of the most inspiring authors of our time.

I am taking this out of princess-peapod's chick lit bookbox. The book sounds very different from what I was expecting in a chick lit bookbox but it really caught my eyes so I am taking it out.
Thanks princess-peapod!

Wow, what a great book. It has taken me a while to start reading it, but I am so happy to have participated in this bookbox and have taken it from it. It also happens to be a 1001 book and a biography, no wonder that I have liked it!
I read quite recently the Grapes of Wrath and I kept on coming from one book to the other. We are always told that the US are the land of opportunities, we all think that people there are always happy... well, it is clear that some people there live very difficult lives as well.
I found particularly touching the fact that despite all her difficulties Maya was an avid reader.
I am reserving this book for a 1001 books bookbox.
