Prodigal Summer: A Novel
3 journalers for this copy...
Beautifully written, as with all of Kingsolver's books (that I've read so far, anyway). Elements of love, ecological awareness, human nature and family histories are tied together in a wonderful web of a story.
I don't understand the title, though. "prodigal: recklessly wasteful; extragavant, lavish" (Oxford Dictionary of Current English) Is she saying that Nature is wasteful in all the life she creates? Or is the "lavish" part what she intends? If anybody has an insight, add a journal entry and let me know. :-)

Picked it up from the post office today. Thanks Zorkzero for posting it all the way to Borneo! It came well intact, even after being opened by suspicious customs! :-D
The book isn't exactly what I expected but it was quite a good read. A bookcrosser from Singapore requested for the book so I just posted the book to her today.
I received this quite a while back...so sorry for not making an entry! thanks a million someprimate for mailing it again. Left on a shelf still in its enveloped and plastic jacket ('we regret that the enclosed item was received damage in transit...Singapore Post has repacked the item so it can be forwarded to you' - looks like the book had quite an adventure) while I got busy with work but I'm going to start on it soon! Thanks again!
