I read this on holiday in Crete - which is absolutely the best place to read it! If you can't go there, don't let it put you off reading it anyway.

The bulk of the book tells the story of the Greek leprosy sufferes around WWII who were exiled to the island of Spinalonga, off the coast of north eastern Crete. It's a facinating insight into the lives of these people, and those they were taken away from, told alongside a touching and engaging family history.
