Purchased at Rotary Book Sale, Johnsonville, Wellington NZ.
Shouldn't be buying more books when we are in the process of moving house but couldn't resist a book sale. Anyway, we have to continue living even if we are moving. Life goes on.

Faith is desperately trying to have the perfect life she imagines for herself; a good career and her independence away from her family. Her parents are from Jamaica, but Faith, who was born in England, regards herself as English through and through. She is upset when her parents announce their plans to retire to Jamaica and she decides to visit the country herself to find out what makes it so special. Whilst there she discovers her 'roots' from her Aunt's telling of stories about her extended family.

It is a very well written book with totally interesting characters through and through. The portrayals of English life which I know a bit about and Jamaican life that I don't are well done and entertaining.

The tiny family tree at the beginning of the book and the development of both the tree and Faith's knowledge as she hears about all her ancestors really appealed to me. Must look out for more books by this author.

I picked this book up at Macs bar and brewery, Wellington, New Zealand. I'm looking forward to starting it tomorrow, probably on the plane from Dusseldorf to Paris. Who knows where it will be released....it will probably be Malaysia, on my way home to New Zealand in a week or so.
