I had to read this book over the summer for my U.S. History class. While full of very interesting information (which is why I gave it a 9) it is rather dull. One of the topics Loewen complains about is textbooks lack of spice in their information, but then he goes and leaves it out too! My favorite chapter was Red Eyes, about American Indians.
If you're a history buff, or really just into knowing about your country, I would recommend it.

Reserved for Trekwoman, traded for A Farewell to Arms (which I have discovered I already have, silly me!)

Arrived in today's mail, thank you. Hope to find enough time to get into it relatively soon.

My impression: The author (Loewen) really needs to get over himself. It wasn't as if he stumbled upon any information that someone with half a brain can't find for themselves by choosing to read beyond a text book.
However, the bit about Lincoln/slavery, as well as Helen Keller's Socialist party line were pretty interesting. I did skip around, though, and didn't read every chapter.
