The Bone People (Picador Books)
2 journalers for this copy...
if i had a top ten of my favourite books, this would be quite near the top of it. keri hulme writes like you would think all of this stuff, and i have this great appreciation for writing and conveying things like they are or should be and not according to our grammatical rules. to me, this book is some kind of amazing journey. it's gut wrenching and soulful and it tells of all the hardness and bleakness of life and emotions while also filling you up on affirmingness of life. it won the booker prize in 1985 and by my reckoning it was much deserving of it.
