If your father was a WWII veteran, you may have heard his recollections. Like the Marines in this story, my dad went to war at 21-22 and came home much older and wiser, having seen things most of us just read about. It is hard for us to imagine and hard for them to forget. This is a simple but well written account of the men who fought in the Pacific Theatre and specifically at Iwo Jima. It is about heros who thought of themselves as ordinary guys with a job to do. Freedom is not free, it has been purchased by the blood of those brave souls who didn't return to their families. We owe those who died during WWI, WWII, Korea and now SE Asia for our freedom.
