What an interesting book, but what a tale of treachery. The Indians were betrayed not only by the Whites but also by members of their own tribes who were greedy for what the White men offered them. The feelings behind the book are all summed up by this quote, "They made us many promises, more than I can remember, but they never kept but one;they promised to take our land, and they took it." Reading this gives me a sense of pity and frustration that the two peoples could have lived peacefully together.
I will send this book on its way either as a RABCK or a bookswap.
Thanks Calallily.

This was waiting for me when I returned from holiday - many thanks teachie.

It's about half way down on my TBR pile, so it could be awhile before I get to read it. Will journal again later.
