A bargain at a library sale apparently. Looking forward to reading it.

What a great little book. Bennett has such an eye for character and manages to really bring the couple who star in this book to life. They're an ordinary, middle-class, middle-aged English couple who are burgled one night while out at the opera. And when I say burgled, I mean everything's gone. The carpets, the furniture, the cutlery, everything up to and including the kitchen sink has been cleaned out. As they set about rebuilding their material lives, it becomes obvious that changes are occuring. It's a nicely paced, very short read.
An excellent example of contemporary british literature.
I picked this up from Mr Mustard's bookshelf, and plan to release it at a work book swap tomorrow.
