Just started this book tonight and I'm trying to decide if it's a keeper or not. One of my unofficial projects is to buy and keep a collection of Indian writers' work. My small way of trying to keep a tenuous bond to the fantastic trip I took to India 5 years ago.
So far, the two "sisters" talking about their perceptions of their relatives and each other is a bit boring for me. But, this could be a slow starter.

This was definitely a slow starter. I love this book! I'm about a 1/3 of the way through and I can't wait to read more.
I finished this book today--I could hardly tear myself away from it. An unsatisfactory ending, also extremely unrealistic. However, I want to try more by this author.
I gave this a re-read when I realized that it is the first part of the a two part series by this author. The second book in the series is The Vine of Desire. I don't still think that the ending of this book is unrealistic. I suppose it could happen in wealthy families like the one these two women come from. Based on the host family that I lived with and families I was exposed to when I stayed in India in 1997, I don't think this is a normal happenstance.
