The Back of the Book
When her feckless husband Matthew vanishes into the rainforest in an attempt to find himself, Janie Pember is forced to go back to work to support the children she gave it all up for. Janie feels quite at home in wellies and maternity bras, but when she lands a job as fashion editor on the International Gazette,s he's plunged back intoa world where cocktail dresses are considered normal work wear and hlding a fashion show in an abattoir is seen as an intellectual tour de force.
Five years seem to have made little difference int he fashion industry. It's still obsessed by accessories and the New Black. And thoughs he'd much rather be gardening and doing something about getting her husband back, when Janie finds herself worrying about bylines, hemlines and overshot budgets she knows she's being insidiously sucked back into the demented world of fashion journalism.
And worse - she's enjoying it ...
