"Dr Tony Hill, expert at mapping the minds of murderers, is reluctant to get involved. But then the next victim is much closer to home ...

Meanwhile, his former partner, DCI Carol Jordan, is working undercover in Berlin, on a dangerous operation to trap a millionaire traffiker. When the game turns nasty, Tony is the only person she can call on for help.

Confronting a cruelty that has its roots in Nazi atrocities, Tony and Carol are thrown together in a world of violence and corruption, where they have no one to trust but each other."

This is a well-written book with a tight plot (two plots, actually) which intertwine.

My problem was that I had read one of Val McDermid's later books featuring Carol Jordan and Tony Hill and had some idea of what would happen in this book. That made me very reluctant to read it and it has been sitting on my Mt TBR for ages while I procrastinated and read other books.

I'd recommend this book with the proviso that it should be read with no preconceived ideas about it.

I might send it out as a bookring - it is a good book and worth reading.

Received in the mail today. Will read it asap and pass it along.
Looking forward to reading it as I have read the next one that Val McDermid has written so this one will fill in the gaps.

I just loved this book and couldn't put it down. I was like pinkoz and I had read the later book hence I knew what was going to happen and I was always waiting for that moment. It didn't really make any difference to the story. If I could have given this book 9.5 I would have. Thanks for sharing this book with me pinkoz. I have posted it off to astro2480 today and hopefully it will arrive just after Christmas.

I didn't realise when I registered for this book that is was a Tony "Wire in the Blood" Hill book. Having watched the TV series and knowing the characters - I tend to play little movies in my head as I'm reading - really added to the experience ... the mutilations were a little too vivid though - tried to gloss over them 8-)

An excellent read now on it's way to amberc.

Received today - should get to it in a week or two...

Forgot to journal this when read so am editing my earlier entry. I enjoyed this book a lot - great characters and a riveting storyline. Will have to catch up with the others in this series...

A Great book. I've read the two earlier Tony Hill novels and plan to read the fourth in a few weeks. Like astro2480 I had seen the "Wire in the Blood" TV series so I also had little movies running through my head as I was reading.

Thanks pinkozcat for offering this book as a bookring. I will post it back to you after the long weekend.
