One of my favorite all-time books. A lovely, engaging read, which I go back to time and again. I picked up a hardcover version recently, so I decided to release my paperback into the wild.
It's a story about two sisters, Iris and Laura, from a wealthy Ontario family in the early- to mid-20th century. Laura died right after WWII ended, and the story is told in combination by Iris, now an old woman; newspaper articles and gossip column items from the times; and through a science fiction/romance story titled The Blind Assassin, Laura's only novel, published after her death in a car accident. As the book progresses, the three viewpoints merge, and the true account of Iris and Laura comes into focus.
