This was quite good especially towards the end...cool how the history of the townsfolk wove its way through the modern day lives of the townsfolk.

From the back cover...

'When builders converting a former girl's school, Chadleigh Hall, into a luxury hotel discover a skeleton in a sealed room, DI Wesley Peterson and his boss, Gerry Heffernan are called in to investigate.

But they soon have a second suspicious death on their hands: a team of marine archaeologists working on a nearby shipwreck off the Devon coast have dragged a woman's body from the sea.

As Wesley investigates Chadleigh Hall's past and the woman's violent death, both trails lead in surprising directions. Matters are further complicated when a man wanted for a murder in London appears on the scene, a man who may know more about the case than he admits.'

One of 3 bookrings that arrived today. Why do they always travel in packs?

I love the cute bookmark.

Three good mysteries that had links to each other and to the past. I hadn't worked out 'whodunnit' or why. The ending was good, with all the threads neatly tied up.

Posting to taniazed tomorrow.

Journal Entry 7 by carelaisa from Québec, Québec Canada on Monday, April 7, 2008
Finished the book over the weekend and I did like it. Okay, maybe it's not the crime novel of the year but it is a good one for sure! I like the fact that, at the beginning, the two main stories (the mysterious death of a woman and the finding of a skeleton in Chadleigh Hall) are treated separatly at first an then, they kind of merge together towards the end (I'm not gonna tell how though!!). What drew me to this book is the fact that there is a historical part ot it, which I always enjoy in novels, and it is well done in this one. Not too complicated to read and the author likes to give a hint here and there along the chapters, just enough to put you on your toes so you want to know more and maybe discover who done what. I'm definitely reading more novels by this author in the future.

I'll be mailing this book later this week, I'll update here when it will be sent.

I have finished the book and pm'ed bilbi for an address. I apologize for taking so long to read and pass on this book. In no way does this reflect the contents of the book. I've just had a hectic month and little time for reading. I thoroughly enjoyed The Skeleton Room even though I figured out who the murderer was before the end.

I will send on as soon as I receive the address.

Thanks again to all!

Witty, well-written, with believable characters, multiple plots to follow and murders to solve. A feast!

Journal Entry 17 by Jessi626 from Otterberg, Rheinland-Pfalz Germany on Monday, October 13, 2008
Thanks for your patience! I finished the book and I liked it. I liked the persons and I didn't have a clue who it was until the end. I also liked how the different storylines got together in the end. That was quite elegant and didn't seem as forced as it does in some other books.
