It's a new month... time for some new bug fixes!
While Matt is still working on harnessing the book data that we all have contributed to, and making it available for searches, he's also been rather busy fixing other things, and even adding some nifty little features. Read all about it in this Announcements forum post.

I read this book for a book club and I really, really like it.
It shows the life and the sentiments of an authistic boy and it really opened my eyes that there is not only one way to see things.
Very enjoyable!

I will ship it to Greece now to my dear friend Asterw. Enjoy the book!

I received the book today, together with a bar of Swiss chocolate (yaaaammmmm!!!!!!!!), a very nice postcard (this museum of rural habitat seems very interesting!!!) and a letter for our friend Anna (I'll pass it on to her within the weekend.

Thank you baldireg for the book and the wonderful presents!
As soon as I read it, I'll send it back to you ;o)

I was between giving it 9 and 10 (10 being very difficult for me to give). After writting the following journal, I finally decided to go with 10...

I found this book fantastic! I started it only two days ago and last night I slept at 4:30 at night because I couldn't put it down!

I found the idea of narrating the story through Christopher, a boy with special needs (although, as he argues, all people have special needs, like for example the ones that use sugar substitutes instead of sugar for medical/overweight reasons...) excellent.

First of all, I got to maybe understand a bit more about these people -I was keeping in mind "Forest Gamp" and "Rain Man" and while the protagonist explained what made him groan or hit people or his obsession about mathematical problems in -seemingly- inopportune moments, I kept having flashbacks from both films and felt as if finding explanations to events that had troubled me at first place.

Another thing that I kept thinking is what my friend baldireg says: there is not only one way to see things. And once we open our minds and see the other's point of view, no matter how different he/she is from us, we get to understand him better - and maybe even review our own theories and beliefs.

Finally, I found astonishing the way that the author could transfer us the feelings of the people surrounding Christopher (his parents, people who first met him on the street, in the train, in the metro station without knowing his situation) through the objective and plain narration of Christopher. To me at least, this was really amazing - and it made me cry till I read the last word at 4:30 in the morning!

I usually don't write so many words about a book that I've read, but I couldn't help it this time. I'm thinking about buying a Greek copy and release it at an OBCZ site, so that other bookcrosser friends might have the opportunity to read it - although I'm not sure if something will be lost in the translation...

Baldireg, thank you very, VERY much for sharing with me this wonderful book! I'm going to send it back to you next week.
