The genius of simplicity, in well drawn lines and well chosen words.

"Draw a crazy picture,
Write a nutty poem,
Sing a mumble-gumble song,
Whistle through your comb.

Do a loony-goony dance
'Cross the kitchen floor,
Put something silly in the world
That ain't been there before."

the writer's art: a cogitation
(for ss)

writing is annotation
fanciful recreation
giving documentation
to all imagination

by gracious salutation
and without reservation
it offers invitation
to endless exploration

and serves as true foundation
for our harmonization
and reconciliation
with all things in their station

(freedom from expectation
and special dispensation
will give substantiation
to this articulation)

through such communication
it's no exaggeration
to say civilization
gains much edification

and therefore in summation
let this elaboration
by way of explanation
make clear the situation:

a writer's true vocation
lies first in celebration
and thence to exultation
in glories of creation

(and my recommendation
for finding inspiration
is give consideration
to mindful observation)

~

i give appreciation
by identification
and rightful designation
of one whose exploration
has lead to propagation
of this brief cogitation:

Shel Silverstein [25sep1930 - 10may1999]
Requiescat in pace...

[After 'Ations', from 'A Light in the Attic']

[For anyone who cares: there is an apparent uncertainty about the dates of both birth and death cited. Some list the year of birth as 1930, some as 1932. Since he was alone when he died, the exact day given may vary. The best information I could find is used in the dates shown. Personally, I think Shel would have found all this quite amusing...]
