I took the book with me from the September meetup and apparently forgot to journal it. In the mean time I read it but I can'T make up my mind.
On the one hand I read it in one single go (started it around 11pm and just finished at 3 am) so it was gripping my attention and it was a good read. And I have to admit that I liked the story, although I don't like the idea of someone never getting over their first love and messing up their lives because of one summer's affair when they were 17 - things like that just don't happen in real life and if they do they are not romantic, but sad.
So what I liked was the story told about Polly and Jacks past and what happened after Jack left. But what I didn't like about the book was the way how Jack showed up again, or rather her reaction to him and his behaviour on this night. In the end at least his behaviour is explained, but I still don't quite get hers. Needless to say that I didn't expect the end to be like it was and neither did I like it that much. But at least it was not a "happily ever after ending", so I guess I'll rate the book an 8.
All in all it was an unusual, gripping and moving story.

Since I already know the Play, there won't be a suprising ending for me.
Still I look forward reading this book.
Thanks Verenka for bringing it today.

Edit: Got myself my own copy of the book recently, therefore this one here is available again.

I liked the drift - very surprising story line, and the story picks up speed during the read. So - stay with it. I don´t want to give too much away. Definitely worth reading ...
