It's a new month... time for some new bug fixes!
While Matt is still working on harnessing the book data that we all have contributed to, and making it available for searches, he's also been rather busy fixing other things, and even adding some nifty little features. Read all about it in this Announcements forum post.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I suppose it was marginally similar to a Patricia Cornwell book (and I haven't read Kathy Reichs books yet) as it is a little about the forensic science side of things, but the story is also about a couple of the detectives who are on the case, one of them (Jeffrey Tolliver) being the ex-husband of the forensic scientist Sara Linton. This is the author's debut novel and a very good one too!

A very gruesome murder in the first couple of pages with a nice gritty story line to follow!

Passed on to me by MoJeDen at the unconvention after discussing our preferred genre's. I'm looking forward to getting into it, if only my Mount 2B wasn't so big and I'd stop signing up for bookrings!

I'm off on a secret journey!

Journal Entry 6 by StoryChaser from Waterlooville, Hampshire United Kingdom on Saturday, September 10, 2005
Received in the post this morning from Gembear as part of a Surprse Bookring. Nice surprise, thanks Gembear. I haven't read any Karin Slaughter before, but have heard good things about her.
I have got a couple of chapters of my current book to read and then I will start straight in on this.

Not the sort of thing I usually read, but quite a good thriller overall, despite a few things in the writing that irritated me (like the constant use of the same word or phrase).
Not sure if I will read any of her other books, though it was nice to have the chance to try something different that I wouldn't have chosen for myself.
Sending it off to AnglersRest tomorrow to continue the Surprise Ring.

Received from StoryChaser as part of the Surprise ring.
It almost didn't make it, as the post office sorting machine ripped the packaging, but the book and card arrived safely.

Will get to this ASAP

I didn't think that I would get into this book, but started last night and struggled to put down, but at 1.30am I had too! As hubby is away tonight I may get it finished in the wee hours.....

Journal Entry 10 by AnglersRest from Teignmouth, Devon United Kingdom on Friday, September 30, 2005
Finished in the wee hours. It was a good book, not one that I would have picked, and this is what BookCrossing is all about reading different things.

Now being sent off to Cass01 to continue its journey as part of The Surprise Book Ring ~ Group 4 (UK) ~ Organised by BunnyLady

Home for me to read now. I'm inundated with rings/rays at the moment but can't wait to get into it. By the way Cold, Cold Heart by Karin Slaughter is available for download at the moment from www.bmw-audiobooks.com. You could download it onot a CD and 'read' while you drive, ha! Pity my journey to work is so short!

Absolutely chilling. The remarks of the reviewers were very accurate: Don't read this alone. Chilling but Thrilling, grips like a vice. I just couldn't put it down but was at the same time completely grossed out by the graphic descriptions. So many twists and turns, interlinked occurances. I particularly liked the way things seemingly of no significance in the beginning were brought to light by the conclusion such as Lena's view of rape victims, Sara's comment that if only she hadn't been late, etc.

Lena was my favourite character and I'm glad she wasn't written out because I'm onto the next book after this, Kisscut. If you like murder mysteries, forensic investigations such as CSI, and a jolly good plot then this book is for you!

This arrived the other day, and I completely forgot to journal it, very sorry!
I should be able to start reading it in the next couple of days, and I'm looking forward to it! (Not at bedtime though!)

Thanks very much to gembear for including me in this spiral. I really enjoyed the book - I do like a bit of blood and gore! I would say not as good as Kathy Reichs but I'm looking forward to reading more in this series and perhaps the characters will grow on me more.

Postying off to gembear today.
