I picked this book up some years back for the interesting cover. However, despite my best attempt, I couldn't quite get into it. It feels like I am missing a lot of the references for me to go "ah ha, so true" and marvel at the author's austere observations.

I tried to finish the book, as I am normally not the quitting type, but somehow the saying "throwing good money after bad" comes to mind and I decided I have too many books in my house I want to read already, why not start on one of those instead?

Putting into the Italian bookbox. There's another book by the same author that I'm taking out. Let's hope this one is more my cup of cappuccino.

This one returned in My Armchair Travels to Italy.
