"When I look back on my childhood I wonder how I managed to survive at all. It was, of course, a miserable childhood: the happy childhood is hardly worth your while. Worse than the ordinary miserable childhood is the miserable Irish childhood, and worse yet is the miserable Irish Catholic childhood."

When i left I later realised I forgot to say bye to you.

( It took me 2 hours to get back to heemstede.) I had to wait 1 hour at the Castricum station. not that i mind. I bought myself a beer, grabbed one of my newly books and found a place in the sun :-)

I already have 'Tis, so I'm grateful for this book: I will read it before the sequel.
Finally came round to reading this one and loved it, though it is one of those books in which nothing seems to happen or develop. In spite of that, I picked it up every free minute and continued reading Frank's life story, because he gives a great insight into the mind of an Irish boy growing up poor and in the lanes of Limerick, trying to survive hunger and the catholic threats of hell and the ordeals of everyone in the city that has their eyes on him.

meegenomen van mini-meeting Publiek Eindhoven.
Found this book last saturday in the train from Utrecht CS to Amsterdam CS, at 01:06 AM, heading back from a festival. This was such a nice and funny surprise after a day of dancing and drinking, reading was the last thing on my mind.
Three days have passed since and I'm loving the book, currently at p.147.
